Every first Sunday is a long-running documentary by German filmmaker Urte Alfs. The documentary premiered at the 65 Nordic Film Days Lübeck 2022.

Plot: A theater group in the German province. Some live here, others travel for the rehearsal weekends, returning home for a few days. They all share a love of making theater and a desire to address relevant social issues on stage. The plays are written by Marianne, who also directs and on whose cold barn floor they rehearse. They are about the conflicts in our society - the new work is about food: the consumption of meat, consumerism, vegetarianism and bulimia. After rehearsals, the participants sit together over coffee and cake in cigarette smoke, planning, gossiping, and exchanging ideas about what's going on in their lives. In the motley community, each:r has his burden, his worries, hopes and problems. But everything is put on the table with an openness that quickly makes it clear that this is not just about playing theater. (Source: nordische-filmtage)
